What’s changing

What changes, and what doesn’t.

Studio Bagru has paused its business operations as of September 2026. Here is exactly what that means if you have an order in production, hold a workshop booking, or were about to get in touch.

  1. Unchanged

    Orders in production

    • Every order in production is completed, quality checked and shipped as agreed.
    • Timelines, process photographs and the final QC report continue as before.
    • The final 50% is due before shipping, after you approve the QC report, exactly as in your terms.
    • The same team looks after your order to the end. Write to hello@studiobagru.com with your order reference.

  2. Valid

    Workshops already booked

    • Your workshop runs on the date confirmed to you, with the same family and the same tables.
    • Optional Jaipur–Bagru transport can still be arranged two days in advance.
    • The refund policy you booked under still applies.
    • Questions or changes: WhatsApp +91 911 611 2456 with your booking name.

  3. Closed

    New orders and bookings

    • We are not taking new production orders, sampling requests or workshop bookings.
    • To commission printing in Bagru, go directly to a workshop in the index and use the guide to brief it well.
    • Where a workshop has asked us to, we make the introduction ourselves.
    • Want to be listed, or know a workshop that should be? Tell us.

Questions

Why pause rather than sell the business or hand it on?

Because the point of Studio Bagru was never the studio. It was that home-based artisans in Bagru would become independent business owners: named, findable, paid directly, and able to say no. A successor company in the middle would only put the middle back. The index and the guide are the version of the studio you do not need.

I have an order in production. Will it still ship?

Yes. Every order in production is finished, checked and shipped as agreed, on the timeline you were given. Nothing about your order changes. Write to hello@studiobagru.com with your order reference if you want a status update.

I have a workshop booked. Is it still happening?

Yes. Your workshop runs on the confirmed date with the same family. If you need to change dates, arrange transport, or ask a question, WhatsApp +91 911 611 2456 with your booking name. The refund policy you booked under still applies.

Can I still place a new order or book a workshop?

Not with Studio Bagru. You can commission printing directly from a workshop in Bagru, and the guide will help you brief it well. The index opens as each workshop confirms what it wants published; as printing houses that host visitors join it, their listings will say so.

Will you introduce me to a printer?

Where a workshop has asked us to make introductions, yes. Use the contact form, choose “I’m a buyer”, and tell us what you want to make, in what quantity, and by when. We do not take a commission and we do not take a cut.

I run a printing house in Bagru. How do I get listed?

Use the contact form and choose “List my workshop”. We will ask for the names of the people who print, the techniques you offer, and the contact channels you want published. Listings are free.

What happens to the archive, the story and the press coverage?

They stay. The archive is a record of what was made in Bagru and by whom, and it credits the printers where the record names them. The story is how the studio came to be, and why it is stepping back.

Who is behind the index?

Jeremy Fritzhand, who co-founded Bagru Textiles in 2010 and Studio Bagru in 2016, with the team in Bagru. You can read his letter on the home page.
